Deep Tissue Massage

What is Deep Tissue Massage?
What it says 'on the tin' - A massage technique that focuses on realigning the deeper layers of muscles and tissues.
The aims of deep tissue massage is to tackle particular physical, muscular problems by using firmer strokes and pressure than other treatments.
Deep tissue massage is a particularly effective therapeutic massage for people with muscle pain or chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff neck, back tightness and sore shoulders.
How does Deep Tissue Massage work?
When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement and inflammation.
Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
What can I expect from a Deep Tissue Massage?
During your consultation we will discuss your particular problem areas, how an injury or muscle strain has improved or got worse, your medical history, lifestyle, exercise routine and diet so I know how best to help you.
During your treatment I will target your specific problem areas using a combination of firm manual massage strokes/pressure, Myofascial Release Massage and a pneumatic massage machine, moving your arms to different positions and communicating with you throughout your treatment.
This is not a massage where you can expect to relax and fall asleep, but you will notice an improved range of motion immediately after your treatment.
Does Deep Tissue Massage hurt?
No, massage should not hurt! It may get uncomfortable from time to time, but verbally communicating with you throughout your treatment will let me know your pain threshold, when to stop and when to use alternative techniques.
Who can have a Deep Tissue Massage?
Anyone can have a deep tissue massage and it is just as relevant to an office worker or driver, as it is to a sports person or keep fit fanatic.
However, there are some instances where deep tissue massage may not be appropriate for you, the treatments needs to be adapted, or requires medical consent. Please let me know prior to your treatment if you;
